Happy New Year

This past December our community group at church volunteered at the Operation Care International Christmas charity event at the Dallas Convention Center. On our way to the Convention Center my husband and I met Jane, one of the guests who were going to be served at the charity event.  Jane didn’t know the direction  to the Convention Center entrance and neither did we, she asked us whether we minded walking with her as we looked for the entrance. “Absolutely not,” we replied. We had to walk slowly because she had a problem in one eye and could not walk fast.

When we turned the corner towards the entrance, we met one of the guests who was leaving. He told us that the event was ending at 1pm. I knew that was not correct because our volunteer shift was from 11am to 4pm and it was only 10:30 am. Jane did not know this so she hurried ahead of us towards the entrance. She was motivated not to miss out on the opportunity ahead of her and hurried to get hold of it. Then it hit me: it’s what’s ahead of us that motivates us to act.

At Ageno we intend to increase our pace towards new opportunities, too. Ageno participants need a respectful place in which they can develop life skills and hopefully call home in future. In 2018, we will share with you the design of the facility which we plan to build for Ageno programs on our new parcel of land in Kendu Bay, Kenya.

I wish you a blessed and Happy New Year.
