Melting away the hot temps with some cool news — and ice cream!

Last week’s Thursday was quite a special day for me. I was a guest speaker at Coventry Reserve. Those of you who have followed our journey at Ageno know that Coventry has a special place in my heart.

I worked at Coventry for two years. When I started working there, I quickly noticed how joyful and cheerful the participants were. The loving, nurturing, and respectful environment at Coventry inspired me to start  Ageno.

Therefore, when I was asked to be a guest speaker, I knew that, as much as my goal was to inspire the participants, they were likely going to inspire me more.

During my interaction with them on Thursday I reminded them about the need for a permanent home where Ageno can run programs for its students and updated them on our progress towards this goal. Coventry continues to be a great supporter of Ageno. The participants chip in and collect spare change to donate as well as Coventry’s consistent financial support.

After the updates, I gave them a visual “culinary tour” of Kenyan cuisine: ugali, Sukuma wiki, tilapia, mandazi, chapati, kunde, chai, and omena; fruits like oranges, loquats, bananas, passion, watermelon, guavas, and mangoes.

And to finish our “culinary tour” we made and enjoyed some real tasty mango ice-cream!

If you haven’t already seen our Facebook page, please visit it to see more photos of the day and keep us with Ageno. Feel free to share the posts and spread the word about Ageno.
