Joni and Friends Family Retreat

I’m still recovering from the amazing time we had at Joni and Friends Camp Allen.

I had an opportunity to attend and serve as a Short Term Missionary (STM). This being my first time I didn’t know what to expect. My favorite part was the arrival of the families who took part in the camp. We received them  with a lot of pomp and  celebration. It was a great moment which I will look forward to in the future. You could see that the families really enjoyed being there. They walked from their cars with big smiles on their faces. The STMs surrounded them with tons of love carrying everything they had, including handbags. The campers were excited; some stood in their car’s sunroof and waved to the STM and staff crowd. This scenario reminded me of the grand entrance the Kenyan President makes when he is visiting or presiding over a public holiday. Our campers, who are people with disabilities and their families , were given a similar reception. They not only felt welcomed, but also felt important. Bravo! Joni and Friends Ministries you know how to do it right.
